Week 5 Learning

Covid has arrived in our class and we have had quite a few kids away this week. We are praying for you all and hope you and your family have a speedy recovery.

It was sad to hear about our swimming sports having to be postponed. Now we are crossing our fingers that camp will still go ahead. Thanks to all the parents who have offered to come with us. There are 10 of you! We only need 4 - 5 per class so will let you know as soon as possible.

Here are some photos of our week.

We had our first Circle Time this week. Thanks to Hannah and Gracelyn who set the class rules and organised the chairs. We chatted about how we were feeling about our class and learning. We also brainstormed ideas of what our dream class would be. Most said kind, calm, friendly, and including others. What a beautiful class I have!

Learning a new strategy for subtracting numbers.

Practicing tidy numbers as an addition strategy.

Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday liturgy.

Lunchtime skating fun

Golden Time today was making milkshakes.

Learning about Place Value. The kids made models of 10,000, 100,000, 1,000,000 and a group of girls even showed how big 1,000,000,000,000 was. We had to imagine how high 10m was though! I was super impressed with the perseverance of the challenge. I know this task has given them a better understanding of our number system.
