Week 10

This week our value focus is J.O.Y - Jesus, Others Yourself. We will discuss and practice this value during the day, especially in fitness, and acknowledge students through our Super Kids blue cards.

We will be swimming this week, so bring your togs each day and a jersey for afterward since it's getting colder.

The School House Leaders will be running a Tug of War competition on Friday for the whole school's golden time. Bring your house colours to change into at lunchtime.

The Big Ideas for some of our learning this week are:

RE - Stations of the Cross
Praying the Stations of the Cross is a great way to remember the true meaning of Lent. There are 14 stations of the cross, and it goes through the biblical passion story. It starts with Jesus being condemned to death, and ends with Jesus being laid in the tomb. Going through the stations of the cross is actually a special Lenten prayer, and it’s a really excellent one to do with kids! https://www.catholicicing.com/printable-stations-of-cross-for/

Literacy - Explanation writing and reading explanation text.
Explanation texts are pieces of writing that explain something. They might tell you how or why something happens, or give information on how to do something. Explanation writing uses a particular structure and language features. We will also focus on compound and complex sentences.

Maths - Fractions
• A fraction describes the division of a whole (region, set, segment) into equal parts. • The bottom number in a fraction tells how many equal parts the whole or unit is divided into. The top number tells how many equal parts are indicated. • A fraction is relative to the size of the whole or unit. • A fraction describes division. • A decimal is another name for a fraction
